Understanding your Manuscript Status
As an author, once you have submitted a manuscript onto a JAMS-hosted journal, you have the ability to check the manuscript's status.
This will let you know what point in the editorial/production processes your manuscript is at without having to contact the editorial board. It will also let you know whether the manuscript is in a stage where you need to complete and action e.g. Author Proofreading.
⭐ Important: Always keep an eye on your emails. All correspondence with authors regarding their manuscript will happen through the email the corresponding author provided. All actions an author should complete can be accessed via the unique links sent in the emails.
To find your current manuscript status, login to the JAMS journal where you submitted your manuscript.
You will see your menu on the left-hand side of the screen. To view your manuscript status, click 'Display Submitted Manuscripts'.

Any manuscripts you have submitted to the journal through JAMS will show up here.

Here you can see the Status of each manuscript.
- Statuses with the word 'Author' in them usually mean that there is an action to be completed by an author.
- An action also needs completing by an author in the statuses 'Pending minor/major revisions' and 'Pending Resubmission'.
To see further details about the manuscript, click on the magnifying glass icon:

You will be taken to a page with links to the files you uploaded, all of the article details you filled in at submission, and a discount voucher option for APCs if the journal has this feature enabled.

When to contact the editorial team
Contacting the editorial team is unique to each journal. JAMS recommends doing so if your manuscript has been stuck in a particular status for a significant amount of time. Please note that statuses such as 'Under Review' can occur multiple times after revisions.
It is also a good idea to contact the editorial team if the status requires an author action and you have not received an email with a link to do so. Please check all email inboxes of any corresponding authors before doing so.
Authors should contact the editorial team if they have uploaded the wrong version of a manuscript or the wrong file. Editors can upload files on behalf of the author so the correct file should be sent to the editorial team.
💡Top Tip: To help the editorial team or JAMS Support Team help you faster, use the Manuscript ID (found with your manuscript status) to refer to your manuscript. This quickly tells the team member which journal and which exact manuscript you are referring to.
The contact information for the editorial team can be found on the Home Page, shown below:
